People We Adore: Lindsay Coward
We all have people we meet along the way, connect with and know we adore. Meet Lindsay Coward!
Identifying most with the heart chakra, something I can totally relate to, Lindsay's compassion for humankind and nature is reflected in her favorite color, green. Find out how this lover of mindfulness and yoga reinvented herself to create Yoga Nut.
Q: Tell us a little bit about you, your company and your company's mission.
A: My name is Lindsay Coward. I am a MPH, Certified Yoga Instructor, and the founder of Yoga Nut, an Asheville-based wellness company. I am a former corporate employee, who knows what it's like to be overworked and under appreciated. While working in corporate, I started a mindfulness and yoga practice after work and noticed a shift in my mindset from dreading work to showing up from a more fulfilled and sustained space. This "aha" experience led me to develop Yoga Nut and bring sustained wellbeing to the workplace.
At Yoga Nut we believe businesses and organizations thrive when their people thrive. This is why we support teams. Yoga Nut provides wellness programs and a la carte wellness sessions that build company culture, encourage team connection, and manage stress.
Q: What is your superpower? Tell us about a moment you recall that your superpower served you?
A: My superpower is deep understanding. I can see all sides of a story and understand where someone is coming from even if I've never experienced what they experienced. This serves me in business because I am able to relate to folks on an individual and group level. With a few details, I tailor wellness sessions to any group. During a recent standing yoga and meditation session for a business client, I noticed an individual was skipping all the movements with arms overhead. I gave cues for, and modeled, how to practice the movement safely without arms lifted overhead and the person joined in.
Q: What are your rituals for self-care, healing or de-stressing? Is there a special place you go?
A: I believe self-care is a daily occurrence and that small actions yield large results. This is why I drink warm lemon water every morning, stretch and move my body every day, breathe intentionally, go outside every day (even when it's cold!) and take time for 1:1 connections with my family and network.
Q: With which Chakra do you most identify and why?
A: I most identify with the heart chakra because I have compassion for humankind, nature, and our connection in the world. Green is also my favorite color.
