Preparing for Summer's Full Moons: Astrological Tips and Rituals
I am Madeline Robbana, an Auratherapist at Adoratherapy. Since childhood, I have devoted myself to astrology, divination, and meditation. I have been blessed with great teachers, mothers, and wise friends who have inspired my journey. My mother gave me my first tarot deck. In doing so, she provided me with an instant change of perspective.
The archetypal symbolism found in the imagery itself felt as if it fractalized in my mind’s eye, unraveling the only storyline that ever was. Upon further seeking, I bonded with a music professor who invited me to study the Qabalah, Jung, and several meditation techniques in her private studio.
Traditional astrology came to me early on, through intent reading and integrating the practices of Eastern and Western masters. At Adoratherapy, I have been acquainted with the Aura and its composition. Learning about the chakras and their influence allows me to help a person fully self actualize and heal.
What excites me most, however, is the unity intertwining these ancient systems and the parallels that can be drawn between each study. Drawing from universal patterns and laws, we must integrate this ancestral knowledge into the Now, adjusting our responses and manifestations accordingly.
With the solstice just behind us and changes in astrological transits influencing our skies, the upcoming season brings us into cosmic alignment. Exploring these celestial occurrences offers insight into the natural world and shifts in the collective perception.
The Cancer solstice brings an energetic transformation. Warm, sunny days invite us to open our arms and embrace and nurture each other. There is a divine polarity between the lunar rulership of Cancer and the solar influence of the solstice.
Cancer's deep and slow-flowing waters have been interpreted in various forms throughout different cultures. In Egypt, Cancer takes the form of a Scarab, symbolizing the emergence of mysterious new life from the shadows.
In Europe, Cancer is seen as a crab, drawing from the Greek mythos of Hercules and Hera, symbolizing Hera's loyalty and domesticity. Lesser known symbols of Cancer include the Turtle, Lobster, and Crayfish. They all share a commonality, a soft-bodied aquatic creature protected by a harsh exoskeleton or shell, symbolizing the protection of Cancer’s delicate essence.
This Summer, we will experience two full moons in Capricorn: the first on June 21 at the 1st degree, and the second on July 21 at the anaretic 29th degree. The second full moon will carry more karmic weight, allowing us to close cycles initiated earlier in the season.
This celestial event is uncommon. Capricorn is paternal, Saturnian, deeply intertwined with time and space, while Cancer is maternal, lunar, and invested in its own microcosm and internal experience. So, how do we harness these paradoxes?
The cardinal modalities at play invite us to set things in order and harness sparks of ambition while tending to our vulnerabilities and wounds. It is a time for emotional maturity; to briefly nurture your inner child, tend to your home, tidy your space, establish clear boundaries with others, and give special attention to your schedules and deadlines. If you are a cardinal sign, especially a Capricorn or Cancer, this summer may feel particularly heavy.
To alleviate the energetic potency, aromatherapy is an excellent tool. The olfactory nerves rapidly activate the limbic system upon inhalation. This provides us with the ability to manipulate our sensory experiences and moods.
In this season, it is best to dial in on providing calm, comfort, and safety. Intuitive and withdrawn Cancer is closely associated with Ajna or Third Eye. It is good to tend to one’s introverted perception and intuition at this time. The Chakra 6 Clarity Roll On is a calming addition to any self care regimen. With frankincense, myrrh, and tulsi, this oil amplifies imagination and instinct. Capricorn, ruled by Saturn, is associated with Muladhara the Root.
If you resonate more with warming and grounding for the season, try the Chakra 1 Vitality Roll On to rejuvenate and connect. Sandalwood, cedar, patchouli, and ginger encourage stability and power. To integrate these into your routine, just roll the oil into your palms or pulse points and breathe deeply. Wishing you blessings and harmony through this Summer.
