Adoratherapy’s Road to Recovery: Rising Strong After Hurricane Helene
At Adoratherapy, our journey has always been about resilience, transformation, and healing. But after the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene, we’ve been forced to face a new challenge—a challenge that has tested our strength as individuals, as a team, and as a business.
Our store and factory in Asheville, where we lovingly handcraft every product, were caught in the path of destruction. Though our store in the historic Grove Arcade, and factory in Woodfin were spared from direct damage, the surrounding floodwaters left us facing overwhelming hurdles.
As healers, we often overlook our own healing, but in this time of need, we have been deeply humbled by the outpouring of support from our community—our customers, friends, and family, especially founders from the Conscious Beauty Collective, have all rallied to help us stand back up.
The Devastation in Asheville
The storm left our beloved city without power and water for days. Our team was displaced, with some losing their homes and others without water for weeks.
Our two storage spaces were flooded with seven feet of water, causing a significant loss of inventory.
We are still triaging what can be salvaged and face the harsh reality that our insurance does not cover flooding.
It’s been 28 days as we write this blog and we’ve slowly come up with plans, handled losses, grieved and are literally picking up the pieces.
Despite these losses, we are committed to keeping 100% of our team employed, even if it means being resourceful and finding new roles, projects, and responsibilities to keep everyone moving forward during this time of uncertainty.
Kiersten and Madeline, our Auratherapists in Asheville are helping at the factory, doing lives on Instagram (check out Kiersten’s first one of her series), jumping into sales and marketing, basically were pivoting real time everyday.
While our factory is back to work, thanks to Ariana and Chelsea, we continue to create the mood-boosting and chakra-balancing products you know and love.
Heroic measures, to pack and ship for our two big events in October in NY and Canyon Ranch Lenox required driving to Greenville (thank you Jim) to find a working UPS store.
Our newly renovated Asheville store (we closed the doors on September 26th after setting up our new furniture, went home and never reopened) opened back up on October 17th, three weeks post hurricane, but the halls of the Grove Arcade remain empty for now.
We are doing everything we can to make the road to recovery less bumpy, and there is still much to be done.
Our Community’s Support
We would not be able to continue without the incredible support from Asheville’s local resources and networks, including Mountain BizWorks, Venture Asheville, Explore Asheville, and our fellow merchants at the Grove Arcade. Their encouragement, guidance, and solidarity have shown us the power of community during this difficult time.
Our customers, friends, and even fellow founders from the Conscious Beauty Collective have been there for us, offering support when we needed it most. We have been deeply moved by the kindness and generosity that has come our way.
How You Can Help
In response to the overwhelming need, the Conscious Beauty Collective launched a GoFundMe campaign to help us keep our team provided for.
The funds raised will go toward payroll, supporting our team, and allowing us to reopen our store while we wait for you all to come back.
Our team is staying strong and working hard. We are doing everything we can to keep Adoratherapy thriving while supporting the people who make our products possible.
Looking Forward with Resilience
Adoratherapy is built on the principles of healing and transformation, and now we must apply those principles to our own journey. We are not just back to work; we are rebuilding with strength and purpose. Our products, made with love in Asheville, continue to help others heal, and that’s what drives us to keep moving forward, no matter how difficult the circumstances.
We are immensely grateful for the support we’ve received and hopeful for the future. Together, we will rise from this stronger than ever, thanks to the power of community, resilience, and the healing energy we are honored to share with the world.
Each of us has stories to tell. We hope to share them in the coming weeks, however we have decided to make this the last communication about the storm. We are ready to move on, and we are aware, you are too!
Thank you for standing by us in this challenging time. Your support makes all the difference as we work toward recovery and healing.
With gratitude,
The Adoratherapy Team
