Are you a mother? Yes, to a five year old IVF miracle little boy named Ferris.
What is being a mother to you? A mother is getting to have the greatest, hardest, most rewarding job in the entire universe. There is no class, no study, no previous experience that can ever prepare you for the life changing role that is an honor and a privilege.
Any tips for balancing motherhood and life/ work? It is a lifelong lesson of trial and error. Remember to take care of oneself because you cannot pour from an empty cup. No two days will ever look the same and that is the beauty of the role. I look to health, fitness, prayer, journaling, and self-care to keep me present and as positive as I can be.
How do you take time for you? I love to work out, so I schedule time for myself in the gym or running every week. I also make sure my self-care is prioritized, so I schedule monthly spa days, and always pay attention to how I feel. I am a sudden cardiac arrest survivor…I cannot stress the importance of making oneself a priority. It is not selfish, it is a necessity.
Advice for a new mother: You are enough.
