The Western Women’s Business Center celebrates ADORAtherapy's CEO Laura McCann’s persistence, creativity, and mindful approach to mainstreaming natural perfume
ADORAtherapy, an innovative line of natural, organic, handcrafted, blended essential oil fragrances, creator of the Mood Boost™ has been named the first recipient of the Western Women’s Business Center’s (WWBC) Small Business of the Year. ADORAtherapy’s co-founder and CEO, Laura McCann will accept the award May 7th at WWBC’s Small Business Week Celebration to be held at AB Tech's Enka campus on May 7th.
In a departure from industry norms established over many decades, ADORAtherapy is successfully mainstreaming the use of all natural, vegan, multi-note essential oil blends with the practice of aromatherapy. "We are providing customers with an innovative and alternative approach to traditional perfume where breath, intention and essential oils come together in expertly formulated multi-note perfume blends to support a sense of well being allowing your inner beauty to shine through," said Laura McCann, co-founder, and CEO of ADORAtherapy. “We call this “Scent with Intent.”
As the demand for natural perfume mounts – market research firm The NPD Group estimates sales of prestige natural fragrances climbed 32% last year. According to a recent Fact.MR report, the global fragrance market is expected to reach $70 Billion by 2022, increasing at a CAGR of 6.2% during the period.
Universal Companies, the leading single-source supplier to over 40,000 spa businesses and wellness professionals, is ADORAtherapy’s exclusive distributor. “We selected Adoratherapy as one of our Signature Brands because we believe that the clean perfume category will grow, particularly as more and more women realize that beauty and wellness go hand in hand. The spa and wellness consumer is knowledgeable and sophisticated and expects ingredient transparency, quality, and results. The Adoratherapy brand has gone beyond perfume to create an experience around scent that fits into the spa environment, where traditional perfume has always been a challenge. We are investing in an omni-channel strategy with their hero collection of 19 scents and believe the brand will become a leader in the category” said Karen Short, CEO Universal Companies.
Sharon Oxendine, Director of The Western Women's Business Center said ADORAtherapy was selected as the "Small Business of The Year Award" from among the many contenders. “Through the ups and downs of building her business, Laura has been able to grow her beauty brand. She demonstrates what a woman business owner needs daily to realize her passion and overcome any challenge that comes her way on the path to success. We are thrilled to celebrate the tenacity, creativity, and success. Laura demonstrates," said Oxendine.
ADORAtherapy’s Mood Boost, Chakra Boosts, and Room Boost collections are hand made in small batches in the company’s Asheville, North Carolina factory. Retail prices range from $12.00 to $40.00, and ADORAtherapy products can be found exclusively at adoratherapy.com, Amazon and in select spas. “In our daily lives we strive to practice what we preach, a mission of self-love anchored by our slogan “Adore Yourself!™,” says McCann. “To receive this award that acknowledges our efforts, focus and integrity is the acknowledgment we need to stay focused on our journey towards success. The WWBC has supported us with open hearts. They have listened to what we need and have stepped up to bring us closer to our greatness. Their singular focus on women in business and the unique needs of this community makes them the partner to go to for support when I need to ask for help. We are honored to be a part of this center of excellence in our community," said McCann.
