People We Adore: Introducing Marisol Colette

We all have people we meet along the way, connect with and know we adore. As we share what we are up to we create a vibration and lock into areas of compatibility.
When I moved to Asheville I didn't have many friends. I was asked to speak at a women's event about my life as an entrepreneur and shared a very personal story with a group of ladies. Marisol came right over to introduce herself when I got off the stage. She asked me to have lunch. I was so delighted and surprised.
We immediately clicked. Deep conversations personal sharing, co-creating..Major girl crush. I discovered Marisol's passion for fashion. She brings to the fashion conversation depth, emotions and awareness. After being in the fashion industry for most of my career, this thoughtfulness was so inspiring, after all fashion is about moods too, and there is so much to uncover when we understand what we are covering up!
When I asked Marisol what size shoe she wore and we were the same, the bag of high heels I was waiting to donate found a happy home. And of course her faves were my faves, shiny silver pointy toe stilettos. Friends for life. I signed up for Marisol's Class and had so much fun rethinking my clothes, how I dress, what I say with my choices and more.Marisol reminded me to love myself more when I play with my clothes. Marisol embodies the sacral. Her creativity, empathy and humor are contagious. As a new Mom, coach and fashionista she feels deeply and expresses fully.
"My spouse and I read out loud together every night before bed."
Q: Tell us about you?
A: I am The Fashion Therapist. In my work I married my expertise in fashion and personal styling with a 15-year long career as a Licensed Therapist, working and teaching in the field of trauma healing. I engage my clients from the heart, helping them define and refine their personal style to create life-changing results.
I am also a wife to a very special man named Adam. We host an internationally known podcast called “Reading Aloud.” In our 2nd season of the podcast all about our fertility journey, we ranked in Apple’s Top 100 relationship podcasts.
I am also a new mama to a 1 year old named Neo Luther. He’s independent, opinionated, hysterical and so loving. I’ve never been through such a big change in my entire life than when I became a parent.
Q: How did you meet us?
A: I met Laura McCann of Adoratherapy at a FemCity event in our town. I was taken with her what she shared from the podium, the work she’s done in her career, the lens with which she views her career & her life and of course, her great sense of style.
Q: What’s your super power?
A: Helping people not only look good but feel good in what they wear. By looking and feeling good, we gain the courage to shine our inner beauty on the outside, showing up in the world in new and notable ways. My background as a therapist allows me to bring a level of consciousness that is not incorporated in traditional styling, ultimately helping align your style to your soul.
Q: How do you destress?
A: I take a walk every day with my family. I take baths and have a yoga nidra practice. I put my phone down before 9am every night. I have firm boundaries around when I work, even when the pull of entrepreneurship is strong. I always spend a little time by myself every week ;).
Q: How do you create daily rituals for healing and self care?
A: My spouse and I read out loud together every night before bed.

Q: When did you know you were Divine?
A: I’ve always known. There were times when I forgot but I reminded myself as well as have been reminded.
Q: How do you want to be remembered?
A: As someone who was both beautiful as well as made YOU feel as though you were the most beautiful version of you. This is a great question to continue thinking about!
Q: Where's your favorite place to chill out?
A: By the water!
Q: Do you have a pet?
A: My soul-mate pup, Trouser, died last year 10 days after my kid was born. She totally waited and so patiently. I miss her every day. AND, one year later almost to the day, we got a new puppy, Pleat (like pleats in your trousers). Our kid & Pleat are like litter mates the way they play. He will be my kid’s dog for sure.
Q: If you were a color what color would you be and why?
A: PINK. Full-stop. Bubble gum, joy, friendliness, fun, playful, creative but also straight-forward. Eye-catching.
Q: How did you learn to love yourself?
A: Accepting others as they are leads me to accept myself as I am. When I have judgment over others, it means I’ve also judged myself. The practice of loving myself has taken time, one moment at a time. In helping others to love and accept themselves through the work I do, I recognize I have given out the medicine I also need. I accept the good, bad and the ugly in me as the WHOLE of me (not breaking myself down into parts and pieces). I call those things: “part of my charm.” And lastly, I absolutely HAD to let go of people in my life that did not love me as I was and worked to subtly or overtly diminish my worth in the world. It’s a daily practice that I continue to engage in.
Q: Are you working on a chakra?
A: ROOT. I’m an air sign with very little earth in my chart. Always looking to ground more.
Q: Do you have a favorite crystal?
Q: Which Adoratherapy products have you tried?
A: SO MANY! I loveeeee them all. I use them often and gift them to others. As I was writing this, a butterfly just flew past my face. That must mean we’re on to something <3.
We can't wait to share Laura's live interview with Marisol- check it out here.
