Patchoulia Roberts
"I AM open to fully experience love and the passion of life."
This is the affirmation of ADORAtherapy’s Passion Room Boost Spray. One of its prominent top notes, patchouli, is a famed essential oil, revered in the world of scent for its sensuality and attributed powers as an aphrodisiac.
Patchouli comes from the lavender family, originating in Bengal, India. Cashmere shawls from India were the bee’s knees in Victorian England. The scent gained its popularity from the fragrance clinging to the shawls as they made the trip to Europe.
Passion’s affirmation reminds me of a commercial I saw that was promoting a fragrance. The advertisement featured one of my favorite actresses so it caught my attention and kept it. That actress is Julia Roberts, who once said, Patchouli has always been a part of my fragrance, like a line through my life.”
In the commercial Julia enters a gathering on a terrace in Paris at a venue full of distracted people. In the scene, a couple is arguing - the performer at the party looks to be uninspired - a woman is wearing a pair of headphones ignoring everyone and everything around her - a man is captivated by something in his phone, and so on.
Observing the room, Julia then walks to the edge of a sparkling fountain that resembles a shower and removes her heels. She then steps in, and upon entry commands everyone’s attention. Person by person she changes the mood of the room. As she floats through the fountain the camera pans the room and reveals the change in each person as they all witness her beautiful smile and pleasant demeanor. We, the audience, get to see a visual, positive switch in everyone on screen. They begin to notice a beauty about life. Julia hands a rose to the man who is arguing with his significant other and the couple exchanges smiles then they embrace. Julia grins at the man holding his phone and puts it in his jacket pocket then engages a beautiful woman standing in proximity. She motions to the young lady with the headphones and the young girl takes them off to hear the performer now singing with a renewed passion.
In this commercial Julia is a representation of patchouli - sensual, unstoppable, and seductive. She personifies Passion’s affirmation, exuding love and good vibes. Like Julia in the commercial, Passion spray could be “feng shui for your mood and the mood of your environment.” Without going outside of ourselves we can all affect the mood in whatever room we step in. Good energy commands attention! No matter your personality or how it manifests, I hope it’s the case, more often than not, that we choose to display the “Patchoulia Roberts” passion for life!
